Things to do in Alicante

Alicante is located on the Spanish Mediterranean coast and belongs to the Valencian Community. With approximately 330,000 inhabitants, it is the second most populated municipality in the community.

The climate of Alicante is a Mediterranean climate, with mild temperatures in winter and warm in summer.

To give you an idea, the average temperature in the coldest month (January) is 12ºC, with maximums of 17ºC and minimums of between 6 and 7ºC. In the city it rarely snowed, in fact, the last snowfall was in 1926.

As for the summer, August is the hottest month with a maximum of about 30ºC and a minimum of about 21ºC.

Alicante is a beautiful city that offers us a lot of opportunities to have fun and visit beautiful and interesting places. The best things to do in Alicante:

Visit the historical center of the city and enjoy the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

The Castle of Santa Barbará is one of the most beautiful places, it is an Arabic castle from the 9th century, which during the civil war was used as a detention center.

If you visit the city in May from 2 to 5 is celebrated in the neighborhood of Santa Cruz the festival of the "Cruces de Mayo". On these dates the neighborhood is full of crosses and remembers the moment when Santa Elena found the cross on which Jesus was crucified.

You can make a tour visiting the Interpretation Center of the Air-raid Shelters. In Spain we lived through a Civil War and Alicante suffered a lot at that time.

You can always go to the port area for a walk or a drink. There is always a lot of atmosphere in this area.

Of course, you can't miss its magnificent beaches. In the same city you can enjoy San Juan Beach, Saladar-Urbanova, Albufereta Beach or Postiguet Beach. All of them with blue flag, a recognition of the quality of its beaches.
